W (6-1) 17/10/2020 - W7 vs Norwich Dragons 8 (A / L) ANOTHER WIN FOR CITY 7S |
---|
WOMENS 7TH XI - 17/10/2020 VS NORWICH DRAGONS 8 (A) TEAM: Womens 7th XI DATE: 17/10/2020 FIXTURE: Womens 7th XI VS 17/10/2020 HEADLINE: Another Win for City 7s LEAGUE: NORFOLK LEAGUE DIVISION 3 LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Dragons Den RESULT: Won 6-1 REPORT:City 7s headed to Dragons for an early pushback. With a large squad and following a strong win last week the 7s were feeling confident. However, City started slowly and the strong Dragons midfield, experienced defence and good marking kept things even for a while. Some great work on the right from Freya Myhill and Scarlett Rhoades started to pay off and City began to create more chances. Our hard work in training was evident as City attacked the D from the sides as we have been practicing, rather than running straight at the to. It wasn't long before a strong ball into the D was calmly placed into the goal by Helen Lewis. Another goal followed after a great run from Lauren O'Hanlon and great passing between Lauren and Danielle Emerson which resulted in Danielle firing the ball past the Dragons keeper. Dragons were quick on the attack and some strong play from them resulted in a short corner which was deflected in by a very well positioned Dragons forward. City responded by working hard in midfield and working the ball out wide and into the D. A much deserved goal for Lauren O'Hanlon ended the first half 3-1 to City. We knew we could improve our composure and passing so came out in the second half determined to do better. Dragons remained strong and City had to work hard to deal with their counter attacks. Some excellent team work resulted in a further three goals from Helen Lewis, Helen McCall and Sarah Bird. Dragons kept fighting and City had to dig deep as a team to maintain possession and keep the ball moving up the pitch to keep creating chances and prevent dangerous Dragons counter attacks. Lots of players received votes for player of the match which reflected what a strong team performance it was. The overall winner was Scarlett Rhoades. This was very well deserved for some excellent play, strong passing and fantastic balls into the D. Well done Scarlett!

W (6-1) 10/10/2020 - W7 vs Harleston Magpies 8 (H / L) CITY TAKES THE WIN! |

WOMENS 7TH XI - 10/10/2020 VS HARLESTON MAGPIES 8 (H) TEAM: Womens 7th XI DATE: 10/10/2020 FIXTURE: Womens 7th XI VS 10/10/2020 HEADLINE: City takes the win! LEAGUE: NORFOLK LEAGUE DIVISION 3 LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: TRF RESULT: 6-1 WIN REPORT: City started the match strong with good movement and strong passing, despite the driving rain and soon secured the lead at the hands of captain Sarah Bird. The magpies formed a strong, young and quick opposition but City were able to secure another 3 goals, finished by Sarah Bird once again, with smart ball play and by holding positions well, allowing for strong drives up the wings; leaving it 4-0 at half time. City keen not to be defeated in the 2nd half came back in strong with a solid game plan, to keep doing what they'd been doing. Magpies came back in strong too though and soon got their first goal making it 4-1. City kept their heads up though and pushed on, narrowly missing out on goal 5 by Lauren O Hanlon when advantage was played on what was unfortunately called as a short corner seconds before. Keen not to be deterred Lauren pushed on and with the support of a team so tight, managed to score goals 5 and then 6, leaving the final score as 6-1 to city. A brilliant win and a thoroughly good game had by all.

WOMENS 7TH XI - 03/10/2020 VS DEREHAM 5 (H) TEAM: Womens 7th XI DATE: 03/10/2020 FIXTURE: Womens 7th XI VS 03/10/2020 HEADLINE: A Frustrating Loss for City 7s LEAGUE: NORFOLK LEAGUE DIVISION 3 LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: TRF RESULT: 6-2 Loss REPORT: A youthful and strong Dereham team started the game well and soon took the lead. City were slow off the mark but soon settled down and their game play improved. The first half ended 2-0 to Dereham. A positive half time talk from Ali Wardale raised City spirits and they started the second half the stronger team. Some excellent team work led to City quickly bringing the score even. Some great defensive work and good saves from the Dereham keeper prevented City adding to the score sheet. Some defensive errors and lapses in concentration from City allowed Dereham to score again and this gave them a boost in confidence and they went on to score more goals leaving the final score at 6-2. City fought hard against a young, strong and fast Dereham side and were unlucky not to score more goals. City have positives to take from the game and also lots of things to keep working on in training. POTM went to Lauren O'Hanlon, very well deserved!

WOMENS 7TH XI - 16/09/2020 VS UEA 5 (A) TEAM: Womens 7th XI DATE: 16/09/2020 FIXTURE: Womens 7th XI VS 16/09/2020 HEADLINE: Victory for City 7s LEAGUE: NORFOLK LEAGUE DIVISION 3 LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: UEA RESULT: 4-1 (w) REPORT: City 7s played an enjoyable midweek friendly against UEA 5s away at UEA Sportspark. The 7s started the stronger side with some great movement and passing and it didn't take long for Sarah Bird to score the opening goal. The team continued to press well and also defended very well against the fast UEA forwards. Danielle Emerson was unlucky not to score and then Clare Clark secured another goal for City so the 7s went into half time 2-0 up. UEA came out stronger after the break and controlled the play for a while. Some strong defending along with a couple of great saves from Jo Di Corpo left the score unchanged. City started to settle down again and some great work at Centre Half from Sam Harvey coupled with some fantastic runs through midfield from Scarlett Rhoades and Mirha Kashif created more chances on goal. Esme Abbott made a great debut on the right wing. After some good build up play and a few attempts at goal Nicky Wardale scored a lovely deflection past the keeper . City enjoyed lots of pressure in the UEA D and were unlucky not to score more. It was a good opportunity to try some different short corner routines. These looked promising and is definitely something to work on. A final goal for City came from Clare Clark who picked up the ball outside the D, made a lovely run and a perfect finish to slot the ball in the back of the net. UEA picked up the intensity again and scored a well deserved goal. Numerous players received votes for player of the match which reflected the good all round team performance. Mirha Kashif was awarded POTM for some excellent runs up the pitch and for helping to create so many goal scoring opportunities. Well done to everyone, it really was a good team performance and we have lots of positives to build on.

WOMENS 7TH XI - 12/09/2020 VS CARROW 2 (H) TEAM: Womens 7th XI DATE: 12/09/2020 FIXTURE: Womens 7th XI VS 12/09/2020 HEADLINE: Unlucky 7's LEAGUE: NORFOLK LEAGUE DIVISION 3 LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: TRF RESULT: 2-1 (Loss) REPORT: The 7s started well and dominated the game in the first half. Some great passing and movement in midfield meant that City had the most of the ball but were unfortunate not to get the ball into the D to create many chances to score. The first half ended 0-0. Carrow started the second half the stronger side and soon went 2-0 up. Helen McCall pulled one back for City from a lovely link up with Danielle Emerson during a short corner. The heat from the lovely warm sunny day took its toll and the 7s seemed uncharacteristically tired and despite some good attacking play, just couldn't equalise. There are a lot of positives to take from the game and also areas that we know we need to work on. Well done to Rosie Crane who was very strong in midfield and was well deserved POTM.

However, City redoubled their efforts and a swift counter attack resulted in the goal that effectively killed the game with City again enjoying the majority of play thereafter. A fourth was scored in the latter stages following a strong run from Scarlett Rhoades whose great work throughout the game resulted in her being awarded POTM. The goals came from Danielle Fogarty-Emerson (2) in her debut at centre forward, Susan Hipperson and Helen Lewis.
