WOMENS 3RD XI - 15/09/2018 VS NORWICH CITY 4 (A) TEAM: Womens 3rd XI DATE: 15/09/2018 FIXTURE: Womens 3rd XI VS 15/09/2018 HEADLINE: Hard first game LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Taverham (A) RESULT: 0-2 (W) REPORT: The Norwich City womens 3s kickstarted the new season with an inter-club clash against City 4s and it was a hard game from the first whistle. The 3s had a strong start, dominating possession, but failed to get an early goal and missed a number of attacking short corners. The nil-nil half-time score warranted a firm team talk from the coach, and there followed a better second-half performance from the 3s. The deadlock was finally broken as Kate Houldey drove down the right, fired the ball to Liv Broadway, who had an excellent first touch and a composed finish to get on the scoresheet. A second goal for the 3s came when a short corner routine was successful with Marie Hood (player of the match) and Jenni Stangham linking up for Marie to slot the ball home. It was a hard fought 0-2 win for the 3s at the start of what will be a competitive season for both City teams.

WOMENS 4TH XI - 15/09/2018 VS NORWICH CITY 3 (H) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 15/09/2018 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 15/09/2018 HEADLINE: Inter Club Battle LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Taverham - Sand RESULT: Lost 2-0 REPORT: The first league game of the season finally arrived and it happened to be against our 3rd team who we train closely with every week! We haven't played together much as a team so far this season and there were also quite a few new faces so there were obvious nerves going into the game but after a good team talk we all started feeling positive and up for the challenge. There was little between the two teams during the first half. The 4s defended well helped by the experienced voice of Summer from the goal who had an excellent last game with the club before she heads off to uni. There were also numerous attacking plays that resulted in a couple of strikes on goal one of which lead to a flick being awarded. Amy bravely stepped up to the mark but unfortunately it wasn't to be and the ball just hit the post. At half time spirits were high as we had held the 3rd team to a draw in the first half and we went back out after the break with our heads held high ready for another 35 minutes of hockey! Although we stayed strong as a team the 3s managed to break us down and score two goals in the second half. Despite this not one player ever gave up, we didn't make it easy for the 3s and we played as a team right until the final whistle. Special mentions go to Kitty for a great return back to NCHC hockey and also to our player of the match, Jess, for a fantastic performance in what seemed like every position on the pitch! A great team performance girls, we look forward to seeing more next week!

A couple of basic errors lead to UEA scoring the first two goals. A neat Joe Holden finish from a tight angle got City back into the game, but a UEA goal in the second half finished at 1-3 Highlight of the fixture - a fabulous home made slow cooked chicken curry from UEA's Hedgy, fabulous! MENS 4TH XI - 15/09/2018 VS NORWICH DRAGONS 3 (H) TEAM: Mens 4th XI DATE: 15/09/2018 FIXTURE: Mens 4th XI VS 15/09/2018 HEADLINE: Local Derby Win LEAGUE: Friendly VENUE: Taverham RESULT: City Win, 2-0 REPORT: City's Men's 4th XI took on local rivals Dragons 3's on their last Saturday before the commencement of the league season. Captain Ingham included four from the canceled M5's fixture, but they were all in the action from the start. Holden and Black commended the central areas of the pitch, leaving Allsop and Tompkinson the freedom to roam in the front five. After absorbing early pressure from Dragons, City took the lead at a short corner, when debutant Allsopp cooly deflected in a pass from the top of the 'D', 1-0 The cool heads of vice-captain Land and Patel gave City more control in the second half and a typical injection of pace from Konieczny inside his own half followed by a side step of the Dragon's GK and a cool finish from an angle gave City a deserved 2-0 win Only a quick whistle late in the half, when a City advantage should have been allowed prevented Man of the Match Allsopp from bagging a second at the far right post

The game started with Max Cocks in the City goal making some great saves to keep the scores level before Dave Woodward missed a 1 on 1 for City's best chance, however he made amense as he fired a low effort into the goal to give City a 1-0 lead going into half time. The second half was much more open with both teams creating chances at either end and it was Nomads who finally managed to equalise with a low effort into the corner of the goal. At 1-1 the game remained open but niether side could get a winner as it finished all square. POTM: John Grange

MENS DEVELOPMENT XI - 15/09/2018 VS WATTON (H) TEAM: Mens Development XI DATE: 15/09/2018 FIXTURE: Mens Development XI VS 15/09/2018 HEADLINE: 7-1 win LEAGUE: NORFOLK DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Norwich TRF RESULT: 7-1 win to city REPORT: Scorers:- S Kassulke x2 M Roy x2 S Hancock O Millet A Ward The opening game of the season gave the team the opportunity to blow the cobwebs away, get to know each other’s abilities and test their pass and move. The pass and move produced the better scoring opportunities with the solo efforts that took on more than one opponent generally coming undone relatively easily by Watton nonetheless they were vital to make the time for the pass to come available. Thanks to under 12 boys for their solid performances - Beake, Kassulke and Pallister.
