City headed to Peterborough with a team consisting of 1st and 2nd team players. With both teams having a great season and training together City played well from the off. Early pressure on the Peterborough defence was rewarded with a goal with Krystal Bishop hammering the ball into the bottom right of the goal. This pushed Peterborough to attack and they began to press well and put consistent pressure on the back three of Pui Fong Chung, Hannah Nunn and Danielle Sizer. Peterborough produced a few chances on goal including a 1 on 1 but were denied by POTM GK Georgina Barratt. City absorbed the pressure and the half time whistle blew with City 0-1 up.  
 
In the second half Peterborough came out fighting and finally found the backboard with a strong shot to the bottom right of the city goal. City upped their game with some wonderful attacks forward from Stacey Lee, Sophie Bendon and Grace Hanworth-Knights which culminated in a 3 on 1 with the keeper but City couldn't capitalise on the opportunity. City continued to work hard with the Midfield of Lauren Lawrie, Ellie Brine and Emily Francis linking up well. Further pressure from Peterborough was absorbed by the city defence with Micayla Tootill making some key tackles when Peterborough were on the break, Georgia Cleveland making a diving deflection away from goal and Hannah Nunn making her second save off the line to keep the score 1-1. The whistle blew and it was down to flicks.  
 
Krystal Bishop, Stacey Lee, Emily Francis, Grace Hanworth-Knights and Micayla Tootill stepped up and produced some great strokes. GK Georgina Barratt made some saves and got a touch on many of the Peterborough flicks but it wasn't to be. City came off the pitch proud despite the result as everyone stepped up regardless of what team they usually play for and fought hard till the end. 

WOMENS 5TH XI - 23/02/2022 VS NORWICH DRAGONS 6 (A)

HEADLINE: 5s get their mojo back!  
LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 4 NORTH EAST NORTH 
VENUE: Dragons 
RESULT: 2-0 win 
 
REPORT: We have our mojo back! 
 
We had a quick trip to the dragons’ den this Wednesday for a mid week game, which brought us our first win for a couple of weeks! It was super nice to be playing with a team of all 5s players, we definitely gelled well together.  
 
We played some beautiful hockey, with lots of energy and encouragement. The highlight being Chloe’s dad cheering ‘come on city’ on the side lines! Dragons as always put up a great fight, with lots of triangle passing and some very skilled players, but we managed to have the upper hand! Thanks to goals from Chloe Green and Susan Matthews We were able to secure the 2-0 win.  
 
The POTM votes this week really reflected the match, with most players having a vote to their name, its a really positive reflection of how well we all played together! 
 

WOMENS 5TH XIJ - 19/02/2022 VS HERLINGS 1 (A)

HEADLINE: Hockey or Water Polo 
LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 4 NORTH EAST NORTH 
VENUE: Breckland 
RESULT: Loss 0-1 
 
REPORT: 
The pitch looked more ready for a game of water polo rather than hockey and the rain never stopped but after a quick sweep the game went ahead.  
The pitch conditions limited the play to short passes to prevent dribbling through big lakes and the ball getting stuck! The 5s started out the first half very strong meaning most possession was with city. City had a few close shots narrowly missing but no goals were scored. The opposition had some great shots almost scoring but the defenders kept them out. The first half ended up 0-0. 
A quick turn around at half time meant no one was standing still too long in the cold. The first few minutes of the second half started out the same but eventually the opposition made a breakthrough making the score 1-0. By now the rain had stopped and the weather got slightly better. City kept on fighting until the end but despite the majority of possession could not make a breakthrough to goal and the score finished as 1-0. 
A shoutout to the opposition sideline players who had clearly been watching the curling at the Winter Olympics and were sweeping water off the pitch to make it slightly more playable. 
 

MENS 2ND XI - 19/02/2022 VS BURY ST EDMUNDS 2 (A)

HEADLINE: City dominate despite the scoreline.  
LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 2 NORTH EAST 
VENUE: Culford school 
RESULT: 0-2 
 
REPORT: City visited Bury hoping that three points from this rearranged game would see them top of the league with a seven point advantage over second place Dragons. 
From the whistle City dominated play with only a couple of forays from Bury into the City half. Thanks to the Bury keeper who's outstanding performance meant that dispite City peppering the target he kept the scoreline to just two goals.  
Not the greatest performance by City but as they say a win is a win.
