WOMENS 4TH XI - 09/03/2019 VS LODDON 1 (A) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 09/03/2019 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 09/03/2019 HEADLINE: The Highlights ....... LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE:Hobart High School, Loddon RESULT: 0.9 Loss REPORT: Even with such a high scoreline against us, City 4's can hold their heads high, and take some positives into next weeks game. Only 2.0 down at half time and a fairly even competitive game, just not able to sustain for the 70 mins, conceding 5 goals in the last 15 minutes due to drop in concentration. Credit to Loddons performance which was clinical in front of goal and a bit more savvy, which we just couldn't match. A very strong debut performance from young keeper Zara Hunter, who had lots to do and remained keen and confident. Very deserved Player of the Match to Bev Cushion, who was composed and showed some class on the ball.

L (0-8) 19/01/2019 - W4 vs Harleston Magpies 4 (A / L) HEADS UP GIRLS! |

WOMENS 4TH XI - 19/01/2019 VS HARLESTON MAGPIES 4 (A) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 19/01/2019 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 19/01/2019 HEADLINE: Heads up girls! LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Harleston RESULT: 8.0 loss REPORT: After a fantastic win last week NC Womens 4s travelled to Harleston with energy and enthusiasm, which was pinched away from the first whistle! The game was all but over after the first 10 minutes when they found themselves already 3 nil down after the Harleston forwards punished the lack of marking, having freedom in the circle and they were clinical in their finishing. Half time and 6 nil down, but it could have been much worse! City did regroup well in the second half, and found themselves with the odd foray into the Harleston half but were turned over and on the back foot once more. A further 2 goals to Harleston – final score 8.0 Credit should go to all the team for a never give up attitude, continual chasing, and in particular to the City defence, Ellie and Karen Hobden, Gillian Allen, and Flo Duffield who were under pressure the entire game, and of course Anna Linsmith in goal but for her we would have crashed even harder. Harlestons performance is one for us to learn from and be inspired by the team performance they put in - Heads up girls – theres always next week …………..

W (6-0) 12/01/2019 - W4 vs Dereham 3 (A / L) A WIN AT LAST!! |
---|
WOMENS 4TH XI - 12/01/2019 VS DEREHAM 3 (A) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 12/01/2019 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 12/01/2019 HEADLINE: A win at last!! LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Dereham RESULT: 6-0 win REPORT: Norwich City Womens 4th team found themselves with a very late pushback away to bottom of the league, Dereham 3s. This was a very important game for the team as a loss would have seen them switch places with Dereham in the table. Spirits were high after a good warm up and City quickly settled into the game. There were good, strong passes from the start which enabled City to enjoy the possession of the ball which had been lacking in previous weeks. The team were attacking minded, knowing that they needed to come away with a win, and were soon creating chances for shots on goal. Unfortunately one of these early attacks saw Frances Underhill take a fast ball to the foot which left her unable to continue in the game. We all hope to see her back fit to play next week! It wasn’t long after this that City broke the deadlock with a perfectly timed cross from Gabby Sharp into the D for Emily Greenway to slot into the back of the net. City were thrilled to take the lead and manager Simeon Tomlinson had to remind the team to calm down as there was still a long way to go! It was Emily again who went on to get City’s second goal from a cross by Karen Hobden just inside the 23 yard line. City continued with this great momentum and Flo Duffield secured City’s third goal with a shot from the top of the D. Despite City’s lead Dereham did not give up and piled on the pressure. This called for City’s defence to stay alert and play the ball out of danger. On multiple occasions the full backs, Karen Hobden and Gillian Allen, were able to release the ball to City’s half backs, Mia Edmond and Sabina Baker, who both played beyond their years with some fantastic linking play to get the ball up to the midfield and forwards. Sue Tomlinson in the centre was also reliable as usual, distributing the ball effectively to turn defensive play into attacks. City’s keeper, Anna Linsmith, was on form every time that she was called upon. This even included a couple of clearances from the top of the D which ensured that City kept a clean sheet. The fourth goal of the game came towards the end of the first half. A powerful cross from Abi Flatt was tapped in at the right post by Fran Cooke who was perfectly positioned. The second half started slowly with both teams sharing the possession. City were often able to move the ball out of trouble with some accurate passing around the back between Sabina, Karen, Gillian and Mia. City have been working hard on their short corner routines lately and it was through these set pieces that they were able to increase their lead. Sabina injected the ball confidently, firstly to Abi who slipped the ball right for Flo to get her second goal, and on a second occasion Gabby received the ball and slipped it left to Captain, Hannah Sangar, who wrapped up the scoring with City’s sixth goal. This was a fantastic team performance with every player working hard and playing their part. Congratulation to Emily Greenway for being named player of the match for a fantastic attacking mentality which was just what the team needed. A great return to the game for her after a nasty injury that has kept her out since the beginning of the season. Also a big shout out to our committed supporters who have had to endure City’s seemingly endless run of bad luck. We hope you found this game a bit more enjoyable to watch, even if it was freezing and dark!

L (1-3) 08/12/2018 - W4 vs Norwich City 3 (A / L) GLAD THIS ONES OVER! |
---|
WOMENS 4TH XI - 08/12/2018 VS NORWICH CITY 3 (A) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 08/12/2018 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 08/12/2018 HEADLINE: Glad this ones over! LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE:Taverham RESULT:NCHC 3s 3 - NCHC 4s 1 REPORT:A pleasant early December morning and the eagerly awaited (?) inter club fixture between NC Womens 3s v NC Womens 4s was an even and competitive affair. The first 10 minutes City 3s had some good passages of play and it was they who took 1st blood, literally when Karen Hobden was dispatched to the side line after an accidental stick to the head. The original 15 squad, was now down to 13 due to a late sickness call off, but undeterred and with a re-gig of the already new formation, 4s put in a beefy and strong performance, which saw a very even 1st half. Flo Duffield, growing in confidence week on week, teamed up well with Gillian Allen and Bev Cushion to form a strong defence, along with Mia Edmond, who thwarted the speedy 3s, time after time with an outstanding performance recognised by both squads in the POTM votes after the game. With the clock counting down to the half time whistle, 3s opened the scoring through a strong Niamh Campbell drive who found Olivia Greenway who slotted home for 3s to lead 1.0 at half time. Manager Simeon Tomlinson gave some half time masterful words of encouragement and direction and 4s resumed the 2nd half much as the first, with a never give up attitude and determination to make the 3s work hard and hopeful to win at least a point. Early in the half a 3s defender was deemed to have the last foot on the line and after some umpire discussion the flick was awarded to 4s. A cool headed Abi Flatt slotted the ball home to level up the score which held for most of the remainder of the half. However, it was some nice link up play through the middle which gave 3s space to run and unusually catch 4s defence napping and giving no chance for Grace Thrower, who had a great game in the 4s goal, with a characteristic Holly Robinson finish. 4s continued to press, Caroline Illing lead by example with her endless running, and encouragement, Emily Leeming picking up the ball and running with text book right wing style supported by Gabby Sharp, Fran Cooke and captain Hannah Sangar whose injury continues to improve, with Frances Underhill putting in a great work rate and adapting to different positions with a willingness to learn. Late in the game with seconds on the clock in a repeat of the 1st half it was 3s who continued to press and win a further goal through Holly Robinson. Whilst the results for the womens 4s continue to be negative, the team continues to learn, grow and develop – 2019 will see some positive results for sure and take us away from that relegation drop zone. Onwards and upwards – Bring it On! POTM – Mia Edmond

D (2-2) 01/12/2018 - W4 vs Broadland 2 (A / L) A POINT AT LAST! |

WOMENS 4TH XI - 01/12/2018 VS BROADLAND 2 (A) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 01/12/2018 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 01/12/2018 HEADLINE: A point at last! LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Taverham RESULT: 2-2 draw REPORT: City 4s have been struggling to get the desired results this season despite some good performances. This week saw City play Broadland 2s who weren't too far ahead in the bottom half of the table so City knew they had to put their all in to get something from this game. Unfortunately, after a strong start from City, things didn't go to plan when they went one nill down in the first half. The team stayed positive and got back into the game with a goal from Flo Duffield. Half time came around and City's goal keeper Anna Linsmith had some upbeat words of encouragement for the team to give them the boost that they needed going into the second half. Yet again City ended up going behind not long after the restart but with those wise words from half time still in the back of their minds they did not give up. Abi Flatt got City's second goal to bring score level again. The closing minutes of the game were some nerve-racking ones, especially for the spectators but City held Broadland to a draw to secure the well needed point. Congratulations to Emily Leeming who was awarded player of the match for some fantastic runs up the right wing and along the back line, creating numerous opportunities for the rest of the team.

L (1-3) 24/11/2018 - W4 vs Lowestoft Railway 1 (H / L) KEEP GOING WOMENS 4S! |

WOMENS 4TH XI - 24/11/2018 VS LOWESTOFT RAILWAY 1 (H) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 24/11/2018 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 24/11/2018 HEADLINE: Keep going Womens 4s! LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Taverham RESULT: NCHC 4s 1. Lowestoft 3 REPORT: NCHC Womens 4s hosted Lowestoft Railway Womens 1s in an evenly contested and entertaining match. The game started quite slowly as both teams settled to the pitch and it was Lowestoft who scored after a break from their left forward, who was given far too much space having ran from the half way line. City then had a solid period of play with several attacks and a text book right hand side of the pitch attack by Bev Cushion and Millie Clarke, resulted in a strike from youngster Emily Leeming which was saved by the keeper, only to send it to Sue Tomlinson for a blast from the top to bring the scores level. Unfortunately, the excitement for City didn’t last very long when Lowestoft took the lead from a short corner. A further goal before half time for Lowestoft possibly didn’t reflect the play from City. Half time 3.1 down. Flo Duffield made a welcome return to the squad and narrowly missed converting a short corner, unfortunately just the wrong side of the post. Second half was very even and no further score from either team. Another busy day for GK Anna Linsmith, defenders Lizzie Roberson, Gillian Allen, Mia Edmond all having strong performances, and lots of running and hard work from forwards and inners Abi Flatt, Frances Underhill, Hannah Sangar, Caroline Illing and Gabby Sharp. City should again be commended on the never give up attitude and that we are continuing to work on areas of the game where improvements can be made, team spirit remains good after the continuing defeats – keep going girls - there’s always next week …………. Many thanks to Harriett Johnson and Micayla Tootill from Womens 1s who helped run the bench, offer support and advice and a massive amount of enthusiasm! Also to our Captain Hannah Sangar thwarted by continuing injury, but for all the work getting the team together each week. Voting for player of the match was very even with votes across the team - POTM Sue Tomlinson

Loddon went 1-0 up ten minutes into the first half. City had a couple of good chances in the D but couldn't quite find a way to convert any of them despite their best efforts. City stayed strong at the back keeping out numerous short corners to keep the score at 1-0 at half time. The second half was tough on City who only had one substitute. The work rate shown was fantastic, especially from Emily Williams and Emily Leaming who are new to the squad. Loddon managed to get another 2 past City. Final score 3-0 to Loddon. Player of the match goes to Mia Edmond who had a fantastic game at the back. Keep up the good work team, our commitment is great and if we stick at it the results will come - it's not rocket science!

City started well and held the opposition until mid way through the first half when they scored from a short corner. City managed to get one back with a good cross from Abi which Hannah converted. Broadland got another one not long after and the half finished 2-1. The second half was very defensive for city and the work rate shown from all players was fantastic. Despite multiple saves from player of the match Serena the final score was 6-1.

LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Taverham - H2O RESULT: 0-1 REPORT:Bright sunshine again today for a morning of hockey as City Women’s 4's hosted Dragon’s 4’s at Taverham. The first half was an evenly matched affair with only a few chances for both teams and some lovely, fluid passing hockey on show. We went in half time with the honours even at 0-0. During the second half Dragon’s camped out in the City half and City showed great resolve with some fantastic interceptions, saves and clearances from all over the defence; with one driving, overhead save to note which the Dragon’s team congratulated City on. With a fantastic defensive performance but the relentless pressure by Dragon’s eventually paid off with a well taken goal two minutes before the end. A fantastic game of hockey from both teams! LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE:Taverham RESULT:Womens 4s, 0 - UEA 3 REPORT:This week City Womens 4's hosted UEA 2's at home. It was a bright and sunny morning and with the sun on City's backs they started well. They moved the ball well and dominated possession, however, failed to find the backboard. 0-0 at half time and UEA came back rearing to go. They got an early goal and shortly followed it up with another from a short corner. Norwich had some valiant defending efforts but couldn't keep a third goal out. An unfortunate raised strike on goal found the face of a UEA defender and with 20 seconds left on of the game it was decided to call it there. 3-0 to UEA. POTM awarded to Gillian Allen

It was a tough and challenging game but despite the cold, wet weather we worked really well as a team. We got an early goal straight from the start scored by Niamh Campbell with an amazing reverse hit. Soon after, Magpies equalised making 1-1 by half time. After the half time talk, frustratingly Magpies managed to score another in the middle of the second half. Even with a couple of short cornersCCity had no luck, until the final minutes of the game. With a classic set, Caroline Illing delivered the ball across the D to Abi Flatt, who swept it past the keeper, getting city another goal! This making the overall score a draw 2-2. Well done to everyone who played in an end to end exciting and entertaining match.. Thanks to Grahame Campbell for organising the bench. Charlotte Baxter deservedly POTM.

It started off a very even game with both teams failing to convert multiple short corners. Unfortunately Dereham were the ones who broke the deadlock mid way through the first half. City kept their heads up and Hannah Sangar managed to equalise deep into the half but then frustratingly Dereham went ahead again just before the break. At half time City were feeling it. With just one sub and some players who had played previous matches in the day it was clear that everyone was in need of the break and a handful of wine gums! The second half was much a repeat of the first. City were winning multiple shorts but just couldn't find that special something needed to convert one of them. Dereham however had more luck when one of their short corners deflected up a city stick and wedged itself under the arm of one of our defenders. The umpire deemed that she was stood behind the goal line and awarded Dereham's third goal. Later in the second half City managed to pull one back with a strike from player of the match Fran Cooke. This really lifted our spirits and the whole team fought until the final whistle for the equaliser that just would not come. Final score City 2, Dereham 3.

L (0-2) 15/09/2018 - W4 vs Norwich City 3 (H / L) INTER CLUB BATTLE |

WOMENS 4TH XI - 15/09/2018 VS NORWICH CITY 3 (H) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 15/09/2018 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 15/09/2018 HEADLINE: Inter Club Battle LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Taverham - Sand RESULT: Lost 2-0 REPORT: The first league game of the season finally arrived and it happened to be against our 3rd team who we train closely with every week! We haven't played together much as a team so far this season and there were also quite a few new faces so there were obvious nerves going into the game but after a good team talk we all started feeling positive and up for the challenge. There was little between the two teams during the first half. The 4s defended well helped by the experienced voice of Summer from the goal who had an excellent last game with the club before she heads off to uni. There were also numerous attacking plays that resulted in a couple of strikes on goal one of which lead to a flick being awarded. Amy bravely stepped up to the mark but unfortunately it wasn't to be and the ball just hit the post. At half time spirits were high as we had held the 3rd team to a draw in the first half and we went back out after the break with our heads held high ready for another 35 minutes of hockey! Although we stayed strong as a team the 3s managed to break us down and score two goals in the second half. Despite this not one player ever gave up, we didn't make it easy for the 3s and we played as a team right until the final whistle. Special mentions go to Kitty for a great return back to NCHC hockey and also to our player of the match, Jess, for a fantastic performance in what seemed like every position on the pitch! A great team performance girls, we look forward to seeing more next week!
