MENS 1ST XI - 08/09/2019 VS LEEDS (A) TEAM: Mens 1st XI DATE: 08/09/2019 FIXTURE: Mens 1st XI VS 08/09/2019 HEADLINE: City fight hard but run out of legs in the end LEAGUE: EAST PREMIER DIVISION A VENUE: Old Loughts HC RESULT: 7-2 Loss REPORT: Norwich City Mens 1st in their final game took on National League division 1 side Leeds. City were determined to put on a good display against a side two leagues higher than them. City started the game really well with Stuart Wardle firing home within the first 5 minutes. However a temporary lapse in City defence let Leeds equalise through a PC and then take the lead, a lead which they held all the way until half time 2-1, with chances for both teams. Into the second half and City continued to put on a good display against their national league outfit and deservedly equalised through Cameron Cooke following an excellent pass by Fred Anthony. City continued to work tirelessly but eventually legs tired and Leeds racked up three clinical goals to make it 5-2 going into the final quarter. City had a great chance for a third goal with an excellent run by Chris Wardale setting up Jonty Black who's deflected effort went just wide. City continued fighting till the end but Leeds quality continued to show and they scored two goals very late on to make the score line seem more one-sided than the game ever was. All in all an excellent PLUM tournament with great positivity shown all round.

W (3-2) 08/09/2019 - M1 vs Ipswich East Suffolk 1 (A / T) GREAT COMEBACK FOR CITY! |

MENS 1ST XI - 08/09/2019 VS IPSWICH EAST SUFFOLK 1 (A) TEAM: Mens 1st XI DATE: 08/09/2019 FIXTURE: Mens 1st XI VS 08/09/2019 HEADLINE: Great comeback for City! LEAGUE: EAST PREMIER DIVISION A VENUE: Old Loughts HC RESULT: 3-2 Win REPORT: Following City's positive result yesterday, the team looked forward to their game against fellow Premier A side Ipswich & East Suffolk. City started the game really positively created several chances with Cooke, Broadway, Wardale and Marchant all going close to breaking the deadlock, however completely against the run of play City were behind with IES countering and scoring. City continued to dominate the half but just couldn't find a goal with the IES keeper pulling of save after save. It was a complete shock when the Suffolk side took a 2-0 lead into the break following their first and only penalty corner of the game. City were determined however to come back strong in the second half and they did just that! Despite the IES keeper again pulling of save after save as City chances were once again spurned rather than scored. It was left to Stuart Wardle to get his first goal of the season as he finished of a good move to make it 2-1. City were dominating at this stage and the belief and positivity around the team was excellent and an equalising goal always felt on the cards. It was a City penalty corner routine which did finally bring them level with Pete Morgan bouncing at the far post to equalise. City then pushed really hard in the final 5 minutes to get the winning goal and Cameron Cooke brought just that as his improvised reverse stick finish ended up in the bottom corner and City had a winning goal. Full Time 3-2 and fully deserved City win.

MENS 1ST XI - 07/09/2019 VS EAST LONDON 1 (A) TEAM: Mens 1st XI DATE: 07/09/2019 FIXTURE: Mens 1st XI VS 07/09/2019 HEADLINE: Comfortable away win! LEAGUE: EAST PREMIER DIVISION A VENUE: Lee Valley - Tennis Pitch RESULT: 3-0 Win REPORT: City took their form in from the last game as they comfortably beat East London on their own patch. City took the lead when Luke Corden converted well within the first few minutes to calm any City nerves. City kept up the pressure and created a few chances before Pete Morgan added a second following a penalty corner. City held this lead until half time with Ali Cooke having a few saves to make from East London Penalty corners. The second half was an even affair with both teams defending well and struggling to create any clear cut chances on goal, the game however was decided by an individual bit of brilliance with Tom Cooke winning the ball in midfield and setting up brother Cameron Cooke who finished well from an acute angle. Full Time 3-0

MENS 2ND XI - 07/09/2019 VS DEREHAM 2 (A) TEAM: Mens 2nd XI DATE: 07/09/2019 FIXTURE: Mens 2nd XI VS 07/09/2019 HEADLINE: City fight back to a draw LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 2 NORTH VENUE: Dereham HC RESULT: 2-2 Draw REPORT: With a new look formation, a few new faces and a new coach things were looking bright for City's finest 2nd XI. A squad of 14 took to the old sandy pitch at Dereham HC in what was a rather warm sunny September Saturday! City started on the front foot pressing Dereham early on but early chances came and went and Dereham's experienced and strong midfield started to pull the strings, coupled alongside City's failure to find passes to yellow shirts (Sun must of been to bright!) The rather skilful and not so 2s player CJ for Dereham managed to dribble through the City midfield leaving both the City defence and Millett in goal rather exposed on two occasions with Dereham capitalising on two occasions. Millett also made a few other saves which kept City in the game and duly saving his wallet from fines post match. Despite Millett making several saves City created several chances and can count themselves unlucky to not have scored. HT 2-0 Two nil down and City had it all to do with the main focus on ball retention and to stop passing to people in red shirts. City really upped their game second half and took on the words from coach Iain Martin. City kept the ball much better and finally got on the scoresheet following more misses when Ben Plumb deflected home a Tom Ling cross. City smelt their was the chance of comeback and kept on hammering the Dereham goal and goalkeeper with Gill doing everything bar score on several occasions. Dereham created much less in the second half really being limited to PCs which Millett dealt with ease. The equalising goal was coming and it came when a delicious cross from Silvester was tapped home by Will Kidner. City created further chances with even Jim getting in on the act and nearly scoring the winning goal. Sadly the deserved winner never came and we settled for a draw, great comeback and look forward to Dragons next week!

LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 4 NORTH EAST VENUE: Dereham RESULT: 5-1 Loss REPORT: With only 10 players arriving City were thankful to Rich Silvester who doubled up from the 2nd XI game. City played well in the first half with Dereham just sneaking it 1-0. Into the second half and City put Dereham under a huge amount of pressure with Rob McCall bossing the midfield alongside Ferris and Cooper. Despite City's dominance, Dereham counter attacked well and racked up 3 quick goals as City's bare 11 tired. City deserved a goal and Shaun Ferris fired home a PC to give them just that. Dereham snuck one more before the final whistle in what was a very harsh scoreline on the away side. There were many promising debuts for City with Glenn Tobias and Tom Cooper shining out, as well as Rob McCall who played extremely well in the middle.

LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 6 NORTH EAST VENUE: Taverham - H20 RESULT: 5-1 Win REPORT: City 6s started the season with a home game v North Norfolk 2s. With a few senior players absent there were debuts to Ethan Rushton and Ollie Millett who both had inspired performances. City played some excellent hockey in the first half with goals for Ollie Millett, Ethan Rushton, Nigel Cushion and Lee Allsop giving them a 4-1 lead at half time. Into the second half and City dominated from start to finish with North Norfolk limited to only counter attack opportunities, however despite City's dominance City could only muster one goal with Ollie Millett scoring his second of the game. FT 5-1 A good start to the season for city with youngster Ollie Millett collecting POTM for his two goals and stellar performance on debut.
